Colyn Update http://blog.jynx.net/index.cgi?mode=viewone&blog=1200061134 Colyn update 6/14 15 days old. Hi guys sorry Ihavent been on. It has been hectic with the kids and the hospital etx.Colyn is now 15 days old he weighs 1lb 8oz.Real quick, Colyn seemed to be doing better and then on Sunday he devolped a hemorage in his lungs and started bleeding, prior to that in the am the drs and nurses noticed a small murmer. By 8pm the nurses said his murmor sounds louder now. at around 9pm he had a deceleration and had to be bagged to bring his heart rate and oxygen up. They had the xrays cardiologist come and started him on indocin to close the murmor. Well after 3 days of indocin his murmor is still there and they have opted to do PDA lidigation to clamp his ductus closed. All though they tell me its pretty common for extremly premature babies for this to happen. it's a common procedure for them and they do fairly well. They said but with any surgery theirs the risks etc. So just say a small prayer for him if you can please. Positive notes on ColynColyn graduated from teh oscalater on 6/5/07 went to cpap on 6/5/07 and stayed there until 6/6/07 then was put on the ventialtor due to an infection in his lungs.I heard Colyn cry when he had his cpap in for 24 hrs on June 5th and 6th. I changed his diaper for the first time on June 6th and also took his tempature.Colyn has opened eyes offically on 6/12/07 exactally 2 weeks after he was born, they started cracking on 6/11 and dad first noticed that. I did kangaroo care for the first time on 06/13/07 at 10:30am and held him until 11:... Colyn Born 52907 http://blog.jynx.net/index.cgi?mode=viewone&blog=1200059040 Colyn came into this world very early he weighed in at 1lbs 5oz and 11 3/4 inches long on Monday 5/29/07 at 11:47am. It all started on Sunday when I lost my mucus plug with some mild cramping went in got checked out and was sent back home, Monday morning I started contracting around 11am but it was weird not normal contractions, by noon they were 10 mins apart we got to the hospital hooked me up couldnt get the contractions on the monitor so i had to tell them with each one. Gave me procardia which stopped contractions for 4 hrs they came back exactly 4 hrs later as I was being moved to the mom unit.We found out the reason was an infection called Chorioamnionitis which they had suspission when I went into labor and I had a very slight grade temputure and his heart rate was in the 180-190's range and dipped down as low as 80 with a contraction. They had me on antibiotics and the baby on antibiotics and tried to stop labor as long as possible and were successful until 11am the next morning so he got another 24 hrs in me. And we got the steriod shots in for his lungs. They ended up taking out my cerclage at 7am,. I was 4cm and 85% efaced and gave me 30 more mg's of procardia around 8 to see if that would help, it slowed down the contractions and my dialation for 4 hrs then i was contracting a min apart. I asked for medicane and they told me he had to come out because of the infection, and its sometimes better on the outside instead of the inside. I started pushing around 11:43 and he came out at 11:47am. I have never been so scared in my life. He however is absolutly precious, even as tiny as he is, Chris say's he looks like me, I think he has my nose. The good news is the infection did NOT get into colyns blood stream, he has the inflamation from it. It's still not good but alot better then in his blood stream. Please say a prayer for Colyn to make this long journey. We have a long fight and roller coaster ride ahead of us. Each day is a new day and I am thankful for that. Kyla doesnt understand why she can't meet her baby brother. 6/2/07: He is 4 days old now, and is still stable. He has come off his honeymoon (a term they used in the nicu about intial shock) And boy is he a squirmer, he has sussecfully taken out his breathing tube( thank god the nurse was right there when it happened), and has taken off all his leads, and seems to like to play with his diaper, I went there around 6am to see him before the kids woke up and he had his hands caught in the tape around his nose. My little bugger, me and the nurses couldnt help but to giggle because he is always doing something like this. Then they came around to do his xray of his chest and he kept putting his hand in the way, so Bridget (his nurse) had to tuck his hand under the frog. no sooner they took the xray he has hand right back out, we couldnt help but to giggle. He started this 2 days ago. He also loves to suck on his tube. I have a picture of Colyn in my photo album and Chris has ...
